Does anyone else think that it's more difficult to find UX Researcher positions in NYC (or anywhere in general) than UX graphics/designer-type positions?

Charles,

I wouldn’t state it is more difficult, it’s just that there are more UX designer positions than UX Researcher focused positions. In conducting a search on Simply Hired I found 8 UX Researcher positions to 400 UX Designer positions that equates to a 1 to 50 ratio. From what we’ve seen in recent UX recruiting trends, the reason for this ratio could be that companies are more willing to invest in a UX designer that can conduct or has experience with research hence then negating the need for a separate UX Researcher.

We have had UX Researcher focused positions in NYC and there are clients who are eager to hire rockstar UX Researchers. So let’s connect and focus on finding you the ideal UX Researcher role.

Hey Charles - I've struggled with the same thing.  My whole family lives in the NJ/NY area, but as a UX researcher, I've always taken in jobs in Texas and the west coast, never the east coast.  There are some in the NY area that I've come across, but be prepared to wear a couple of hats (i.e., play both a researcher and a designer role).
