I had attended the Gravity Free Conference back in May and wanted to comment/expand on one of the speakers; Autodesk.
The pre-conference session was RIP MOD FAB: Technology Trends that Impact the Future of Design and Manufacturing presented by Autodesk. It was a wondering presentation to begin this conference; opened my mind to a whole new way of thinking, making the impossible possible with 3D designs and printers.
New technology being developed where people could buy 3D printers, type in a code to create something they desire and it would print the object for them in their house. There would be no need for stores, money, currency after the development of this. Then once the person is done with the object they recycle the material to make a new object, no scraps would be created so this would clean up our environment also. It was an interesting concept and she delivered the presentation very convincingly. They had 3D cut outs that people could take and build. I took the head of Venus and put it together, it took some time to build but is very cool! (Attached are photos)
They handed out books (I just completed reading) which was a great read and I recommend all of you to buy/rent it! It's titled 'How designers, architects, and engineers are changing our world, Imagine Design Create' edited by Tom Wujec. (Attached a photo) It covers all the aspects of design, the process, tools and all others experiences of design. The books has tons of great designs/developments and explains how they came about and the processes needed to establish these. Check it out, I know you won't be disappointed.
